Meningitis is a disease that results from a process inflammation of the meninges, which result from an infection that may have various etiological agents, such as bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. Meningitis can be divided into aseptic meningitis and meningitis. bacterial. In Brazil, meningitis is considered an endemic disease. Some epidemiological studies were carried out to verify the prevalence and incidence of aseptic and bacterial meningitis in Brazil.
